Damages not documented as described above will be considered on a case- by- case basis.

Damages documented as described above will be warranted.

Claims for errors or shortages must be filed within 10 days of receipt of related shipment.

Do we custom- designed hose reels?

Yes, we do.  Contact us directly to discuss this.

"My hose reel is running slowly. What can I do about it?"

Every single electric rewind vacuum hose reel produced by Reel Innovations, LLC is checked for satisfactory operation prior to shipment. This is accomplished via connecting it to a 12 VDC power source, verifying that it does, in fact, turn as it should and that it does have the speed and power that it should.

However, there are installation considerations that must be followed in order to supply proper voltage and current for satisfactory operation. (See 2, 3 and 4, below.)

If you have an electric rewind hose reel and it’s running slow or seems to be lacking in power, etc., here are 4 things that it could be, along with how to check and remedy each, in order of likelihood:

1.) BELT IS LOOSE

The drive belt of your reel could be loose enough that it causes the belt to slip on the drive pulley. (This is the small pulley on the motor.) The result would be that the small pulley on the motor turns, but the reel does not- or does not in unison with the drive pulley.

Check the belt tension. Pull the belt (front- to- back) at the location between the drive pulley and the hose reel, where the belt goes “up”. It should not easily move more than 1” either way. If it does, adjust belt tension by loosening (NOT REMOVING) the 3 mounting bolts of the motor to the motor plate, moving the motor away from the reel and re- tightening the mounting bolts.

2.) LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION(S).

Check to be sure that connections are secure. Check to be sure that the ground connection is actually at the power source (i.e., the battery’s negative connection, or, a mounting bolt for the engine of your truck mount, or a mounting bolt of its starter).

It is recommended that the ground connection NOT be to the van body, van floor, etc., but be as close to the battery connection as possible. A faulty ground will reduce the quality of the electric circuit, which will reduce current, which will reduce the speed and power of the motor.

3.) INSUFFICIENT WIRE SIZE.

Electric rewind hose reels are to be wired with 10 gauge stranded copper wire. Using a smaller gauge wire (such as 12 gauge.), will introduce resistance to the current, which will reduce the current and therefore reduce the speed and power of the motor.

If your hose reel is NOT wired with 10 gauge stranded copper wire, then this is most likely the cause of speed issues.

4.) UNUSUAL LENGTH OF ELECTRICAL PATHWAY.

If the wire is very long, due to it being routed in a way intended to hide it, or run to the van battery, instead of to the machine battery, which results in it not being routed in the shortest route possible, this may be the cause of slow rotation speed of your reel.

The length of a given wire size contributes resistance to the current traveling through the wire. The longer the wire, the more the resistance. And with long (over 10 ft.) runs, this could be a factor in reducing available current.

You may need to increase the wire size to 8 gauge, in order to overcome the effects of long length of your power wires.

"My Vacuum Reel’s fuse keeps blowing. What is wrong and how can I fix it?"

Does it blow after being in use for a few minutes, every day or so, etc?  If so, it’s probably not the correct size needed.

We recommend 40 AMP fuses for our vacuum reels, for trouble- free service.

Does it blow as soon as the switch is turned on?

If it blows as soon as the switch is turned “ON”, then there is a “short” in your wiring somewhere, most likely on the ground wire.

This is most likely due to the wire being damaged and a connection (“short circuit”) being made, between the “Hot” and “ground” at the location of the damage.

(The wiring should be replaced or repaired.)

Does it blow as soon as a new fuse is installed?

If it blows instantly, then there is a “short circuit” in your wiring, on the “hot” side of your wiring.

“My motor comes on, and won’t stop running.”

If it runs, even when the switch is not “ON”, then either:

  • There is a “short” in your wiring somewhere, most likely after the circuit after the motor, but before the switch.

or:

  • The switch is damaged.

Disconnect the power, disconnect the switch, then re- connect the power.

If the motor still comes “ON”, the problem is caused by a “short circuit” after the motor. (The wiring should be replaced or repaired.)

If the motor does not start to run, the switch needs to be replaced.

“My motor will not turn “ON” when I flip the switch.”

Check to be sure that the fuse is not blown.

If it is blown, replace it.

If it is not blown, the problem may be the switch.

To check the switch, remove the 2 wires from the switch terminals and connect the two wires together.

If the motor turns “ON” after connecting the 2 wires together, then the switch should be replaced.
